And in future please read the manual, and search the forums/wiki before posting.

What on that page didn't you understand?  It tells you which players support MPEGPlayer, and it gives you at least three different pieces of software to convert the video and how to do it.  I'm not going to type out that page again here - if you don't understand it there, you won't here.  Try following the instructions, and if you have any issues with specific instructions ask.

It tells you which players support MPEGPlayer

I have to say I also didn't find it so clear. It's the very last bit of information on the page and in a comma separated list instead of a nice table or something.

Yes, your player (greyscale, 4th generation iPod) is referred to in the list at the bottom of the page as the iPod 4g.  The "iPod Color" refers to the one with the color LCD.

OK, I've edited that page to add another section saying which players are supported.

I think that it would also make sense to have a section in the "Browsing and Playing" chapter of the manual entitled, "Playing Video."  It isn't intuitively obvious to a new user that video is a "viewer."  At a minimum, the "Browsing and Playing" chapter should note that Rockbox supports video playback and cross-reference the later description of the Mpegplayer viewer.  I'll add this when I have time.
