WMA files skipping on Sansa e250 - r15654-071117 / r15722-071120

(1/1)

benlandman:
Some WMA files  skip on my Sansa e250 when using Rockbox. When playback reaches a particular spot in the song,  the player jumps to the next song. I'm pretty sure it's always the same spot in each song, but not absolutely sure. It's certainly skipped at the same spot several times.

My first guess was that the music files were corrupted. But if I play them using the default Sandisk software on the e250, or play them through my computer using Windows Media Player (connecting the player to my computer via the USB cable), they play just fine all the way through, every time.

I've tried two Rockbox builds - r15654-071117 and r15722-071120. Same problem both times.

This does not seem to occur with all WMA files. These files, as well as many that play just fine, were encoded by Windows Media Player. Windows reports that encoded them as 129 Kbit, 16-bit, 44KHz stereo.

Any guesses? Any solutions?

Many thanks!

Try a build before Oct 25:

If theres no difference, post a file and a description of the exact time in the file where the skips and I can look at it.

I downloaded and installed the October 24 Rockbox (rockbox-sansae200-20071024.zip). The same songs continue to skip in the same places. I'd certainly be grateful if you'd examine one, but how can I post it to you? Attachments are limited to 128kb, and the music files tend to be 3-4 MB.

Please let me know, and I'll send one along, with the location of the skip.

Many thanks!
