Contrast off: Cannot read screen

(1/6) > >>

The Archos FM recorder with RockBox boots up, is accessable and readable through the PC, the backlight works, hard and LEDs work as through a normal boot up.....but the screen cannot be read. I can see slight variations in the contrast when the unit is reading but no luck in reading.   it appears that the contrast setting is off (happened long ago with the same exact symptoms, but back then I was just barely able to read the screen by using an extremely bright light and holding the display on an angle to get the contrast reset.  Is there a way to modify a support file to change the contrast or a series of key strokes that will put me into the contrast adjust screen or another work around?  The manual was not vary good in giving the screen sequence steps.

The manual warns that if you improperly adjust contrast it can create significant problems, but I was not adjusting contrast at the time or the time before.

Please read the forum posting guidelines. This is not an "Installation and Removal" question.

As to your question, assuming you're using a current version of Rockbox, you should be able to just fix the config.cfg file on your player.

Thanks.  I am somewhat new at this so forgive the incorrect location.  How can I change the config file.  what variable must be changed.  I saw the archos location and figured that was the location.

Thanks

Please spend a little time reading everything then, as each subsection of the forum has a POSTING IN THIS FORUM thread that offers an overview of what belongs there.

As for your file, look for a line that mentions contrast and remove it to get the original contrast setting back, or simply delete config.cfg (this will restore to the default settings).

Thanks

I will read everything then.

However, there is no config.cfg file found during a search of the drive.
