HELP! (Ipod video/ 30 gig/ 5th gen) Not particularly sure what's wrong

Why (if anybody can help me) won't my computer find my ipod when I try to install rockbox? I downloaded it and when I try to upload the program onto my ipod (30 g, 5th gen), it asks if I would like to complete the insttallation, and I click ok, but it says no ipods are found.
any help would be nice
