Hi, I just tried installed rock box and the boot loader and I'm getting a read error. I've gone through the manual and re-did everything about 3 times already. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Can't load rockbox. ipod:
Read fail (image)
Hold MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode

You haven't installed rockbox properly.  How did you unzip rockbox.zip to your player?

In the root of your ipod drive you should have a .rockbox folder (the full stop before it is important), and inside that amongst other things a rockbox.ipod file.  

Try unzipping the current build again.

Yes I did install everything properly. I did exactly what the manual said to do. Everything is there. I extracted everything to the Ipod drive and didn't change anything.

well turns out for some reason, my ipod screwed up. took like 5 minutes for itunes to even load up my ipod and every time it would load, i got a message saying that i had to restore my ipod. ended up restoring my ipod. everything was deleted.

i went ahead and tried installing rockbox again. this time everything turned out fine. works like a charm. now i just have to transfer all of my music back to my ipod.

OK, so for some reason your drive was corrupted, which is why it couldn't read rockbox.ipod, which is why it looked like it wasn't there, which is why it looked like you didn't extract properly!
