Odd playback issues with VBR MP3 files - r15621-071114
LambdaCalculus:
Hey everyone, I'm experiencing a strange bit of behavior with my iPod video. I'm running SVN build r15621 currently, but I'll update later and try again to see if this persists.
Anyway, I'm listening to an album I ripped in MP3 VBR format, and at one particular track, it suddenly jumps to the next track in the album (track length is 4:28; the "jump" occurs when time remaining reads 0:28). I have these very same MP3s on my Archos JBR, and they play just fine there. The same applies to my laptop with XMMS.
I haven't listened to this album for a while now, not since before Metadata on Buffer was commited, so I think this behavior might be attributed to a bug in MoB. But like I said, I'll update my build to the current one and try again. If the behavior persists, I'll file a bug report in the tracker.
Two last thoughts: In the debug menu, I've noticed that the CPU is boosting quite a lot with this album, and the track in question is MP3 VBR with an average of 220kbps bitrate.
GodEater:
Sounds like it could be MoB related to me too.
LambdaCalculus:
Are you getting anything similar to this problem on your iPod, GodEater? I'd like to find out if others are having this problem as well before I officially open a bug report.
bascule:
I'm finding a few oddities since MoB, but nothing I can reliably repeat.
On my Sansa e280 I have very long disk-accessing on start-up, delaying playback, when the Database is enabled (but seems OK if settings are reset).
I also have tracks randomly skipping to the next track (as also seen in the forums by an H340 user...).
Also, if I switch to a non-Album Art WPS from a very simple AA-enabled one I wrote, I get an album-art-sized portion of the screen blanked out.
I'm pretty much waiting to see what happens at the moment as I don't really have time to diagnose these :(
LambdaCalculus:
I also noticed one other oddity that may also be MoB related: if I'm playing a track (doesn't matter what codec), and I go back into the file view and select another song to start playing just as the currently playing track ends, my iPod displays "Loading..." and just hangs. The only thing to do at that point is reset my iPod.
I'll try this on my Sansa c240 to see if it happens there, too.
