Computer not recognizing my Sansa e280
rdooley13:
I just installed rockbox on my Sansa e280. I deleted all my music from the player to make a clean slate for the new firmware. I have been playing around with my new themes, but when I plug the USB into my computer, Windows XP doesn't seem to recognize the player's existence so I can't add or play any music.
I've been hunting around the forums here for about an hour now and haven't seen any explanations for why I all of a sudden have a phantom mp3 player...Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I'm surprised you couldn't find this in the forums - Rockbox doesn't have a USB mode on the Sansa, you need to use the USB mode in the original firmware to transfer files.
interframe:
Power on your Sansa at the same time push the left button. The unit will default to the original software then drag and drop as you would to any other drive. RB will see the new files and catalog them.

It is easier to just plug in the USB cable when the Sansa is off.

Cool, it saves a step. I will try it when I get home.
