Hi all
I wanna know few opinions from people who work on a rockboxed ipod about some problems i notice on it. First i notice when im running the rockbox firmware the ipod's harddrive makes more noice than the original apple's firmware. Secondly often when i try to open my ipod i get battery signs and i have to restart it so as to enter the rockbox firmware, but i never notice those problems with the original apple's firmware. Do u think there is something wrong with my ipod or is it normal to get this sometimes with rockbox and if it is so is it dangerous at all?

Please reply because i really want few opinions about this.
Thanks

GodEater:
My iPod makes no more noise running Rockbox than in the OF.

I don't make a habit of opening it though, and can't imagine why you'd want to.

Llorean:
I think by "open" he means "turn on."

Depends on what you mean by 'more noise'. I have not experienced any more noice with Rockbox than with Apple's firmware.

Yes, I do experience these sometimes, but because it is so simple to reset, I've never considered it a problem.

When you try to start your iPod and you see the low battery symbol - Rockbox is not yet running.  This is apparently a bug in the Apple firmware.
The reason you haven't seen this error before installing Rockbox is a little complicated:
The black-and-white low battery symbol only comes up in error when booting an iPod from a fully powered off state.
The Apple firmware rarely does a full power-off, it is most often in a deep sleep mode.
Rockbox does not know how to sleep your iPod, so it always does a full power-off.
Therefore you have probably booted your iPod many more times since installing Rockbox than you ever did before installing Rockbox, thus your odds of seeing this bug of Apple's is greatly increased.
