Video iPod question.

(1/2) > >>

Hubird:
I was looking into replacing the head unit in my car with a screen and using an iPod video as the source. I was hoping of stashing the iPod out of sight somewhere and using an iPod remote to control everything.  After some searching I found out that the menu and now playing information is not sent to the external screen, only the actual video is.

I was wondering, does rockbox have a way of overcoming this problem, or is it a hardware issue rather than a software one ?

linuxstb:
It's a software issue, but Rockbox won't solve it - Rockbox doesn't currently support either a remote control or the TV-Out on ipods.

As you've discovered, the Apple firmware only displays videos (and I think, photos) on the TV-Out, not the UI that's displayed on the ipod's LCD.

Hubird:
Thanks for your reply. I don't actually have an iPod yet, is there is a different player which rockbox has better support for that will do what I want ?

GodEater:
None that I'm aware of certainly.

pondlife:
If you can find an iRiver H1xx or H3xx with an LCD remote that'll do what you want, I'd think.
