OT: But I don't know where else to ask, What do you use to allow your player in your cars?  FM tuning thing?

I use a cassette adaptor myself. Works fine for me.

Hello,

maybe i can help you step by step via instant messenger (ICQ, MSN or Skype), if you have troubles with understanding the manual. Just send me a private message.

Line in is your best option for connection to a car head-unit.
Cassette adapter is a close second.
In-line FM modulator is a distant third.
FM transmitter is a far fourth.

OK, call me stupid but here's where I am:
2.3.  Installing Rockbox

2.3.1.  Automated Installation
To automatically install Rockbox download the official installer and housekeeping tool Rockbox Utility. It allows you to

Automatically install all needed components for using Rockbox (“Small Installation”)
Automatically install all suggested components (“Full Installation”)
Selectively install any of all available parts of Rockbox

Where do I find RB Utility?

At the end of the list you have quoted (three lines later), there is a link to rbutil...

Prebuilt binaries for Windows, Linux and MacOS X are available from http://download.rockbox.org/rbutil/. As Rockbox Utility is still under development more information including up-to-date download links can be found at RockboxUtilityQt.

Well somehow I fell into the place where it brings up the screenshots I've seen so I DL everything.
Now what do I do?
I'll keep looking around to see if I can find my way.  I know it's all written out right in front of me but I can't make sense of it until after I actually do it.   :D
Merged by Soap:  In the future please do not double post!  Modify your previous message if nobody has replied yet.
I think I've got it!  Pulled some songs straight from Realplayer to my player and a couple pics.  LOTS of options to choose from, so I guess now I just need to play with it and set it up to my preferences.  Correct?

Sorry.  I haven't had to do that on other forums but I will try to remember to do that here.  Thank you

OK, found my 1st mistake.  I got my music onto my player by "move files" so they are no longer on my pc, only on my player.  Dangit!  How do I have them in both places?

Go to the drive that the files are located in and simply copy them to your hard drive instead of moving them.

AH that makes total sense.  Thank you!  I was able to make changes, like customize folders to my name and such.  I was trying to figure out how to make changes by using my player and couldn't get it.
I guess you have to make all your changes with your pc.
In the process of trying to copy and paste my songs back into my pc hd.

You can move, rename, delete and copy files and directories and such on the player.

Please read the manual, many of your questions are answered in there and it would be preferable not to just have to quote the manual at you.

So read and check it on your computer - you can either download the pdf, or read the html online.  Seriously, if you ask loads of questions that are all in the manual you will annoy people.

Thanks for all the help guys!!!  Thanks for answering my newb questions.  I know it gets frustrating on other forums I've been visiting for years when newbs come on and ask stupid questions.
Thanks for hanging in there with me.

I'll have more newb questions for you all on other threads.  If you're annoyed by my questions because the answer is obvious to you can you at least link me in the right direction.   ;)
