iPod Problem

(1/1)

kndcoleman24:
I have a very, very drastic problem with my iPod Video. The regular iPod firmware never loads. The regular screen will appear for a nanoseccond and then just cut off. Is this because of Rockbox, if so what should I do. I've tried unistalling the Rockbox but that doesn't seem to work. The iPod just does not go to the regular OS. I wonder why. Should I restore it? I hope not because I have 26 GB worth of content on this thing. Please help!!

Chronon:
1) What do you mean by "regular screen"?  Which screen are you talking about?

2) How did you try to uninstall it?  Did you get any error messages?  In what way did uninstallation fail?

3) You can always boot into Disk Mode to gain USB access to your iPod and get any files from it that you don't already have backed up somewhere.

kndcoleman24:
1) The regular screen the iPod factory settings. The way the iPod looks when you buy it.

2) I unistalled the bootloader, it unistalled successfully. I got no errors.

Chronon:
Put your iPod into Disk Mode and rescue your files if you like.  Then you can try to fix your Apple firmware.  You can try to update it if possible (check around to see if methods exist to trick iTunes into thinking you have an old version).  This will re-write the Apple firmware to the first partition and leave your FAT32 partition alone.  A last resort will be to "Restore" the iPod and then replace the files that you copied off of it.

At this point you don't have Rockbox on your system so this is all a matter of getting Apple's firmware to go onto your player properly.
