Having trouble compiling a patch
« on: November 08, 2007, 04:23:11 PM »
I'm currently trying to compile a patch to install an sgf viewer and editor. I downloaded the .diff file (flyspray: 7369), but when i used the instructions in the wiki (using command prompt) it said that there was no patch command. Any help?

And what development environment are you using?  Native linux?  Cygwin?  VMWare?  You can't do it just in Windows.

really?
that would explain why command prompt wasn't working.
Is there any space conservative program for patching?
I.E. something that only does the patch, rather than the entire cygwin environment?

You patch the source code, not the compiled build, so you need to have the entire environment in order to compile the patched source.

Take a look at the SimpleGuideToCompiling wiki page.
