Rockbox gets replaced by default Apple firmware
« on: November 08, 2007, 12:41:12 PM »
Hi All,

I apologize if this has been asked.  I scoured the forums to no avail.  When I leave my ipod connected to my computer, eventually rockbox is replaced with the apple firmware.  Or at least, I pick up my ipod to use it, and rockbox is gone and all I'm left with is the default Apple ipod UI.  At this point, any Apple folders I deleted reappear as well (Calendar, Notes, ipod_control, etc.).  I would prefer never to see that butt-ugly Apple UI for as long as I live, but more importantly, I don't want to have to keep running ipodpatcher to re-install rockbox every day.  Does anyone have any suggestions?   I'm using a 60 gig ipod video, 5th generation.  Thanks,

-Kirk

I think if you power up the ipod while connected to USB it will boot into the Apple firmware.

Ah, I think I was doing just that.  Thank you very much for the tip.

If that's all that's happening then you shouldn't need to run ipodpatcher again.  A simple reset (hold Menu + Select), once you've disconnected from the computer, should boot you back into Rockbox again.
