iPod Nano 1st gen unpredictable behavour

I don't know where to begin.

I have an iPod Nano 1st gen. I carefully downloaded the RockBox iPod Nano 1st gen, fonts & iPod boot loader. I followed the instructions manual on installation.

Once installed, I initialize the database. Sometimes it freezes and doesn't complete initialization. I reboot and try again. Sometimes it succeeds and tells me to reboot. I reboot and listen to some songs. I start hearing noise spikes in my songs, some songs are played too fast. Some other times the songs play fine.. with minor noise spikes. Then all of a sudden it tells me to initialize my database again. Then it crashes with ...

I used iTunes to format/initialize my iPod back to factory default settings. Prior to this I used SharePod to back up my music contents. Once formated, I copy all my songs back to iPod using SharePod. Then I carefully follow RockBox manual again and try again. Again and again I get the same unpredictable behavour with RockBox.

Does anyone know about this with iPod Nano 1st gen? Can RockBox support unicode filenames & tags?

There's so many bugs or errors I don't know where to begin in the bugs submissions.
