error message on a sansa e280r using e200rpatcher

<< < (3/4) > >>

Thexder:
Hi

I had similar problem while I was trying to run the e200rpatcher in my e280R recently acquired.

The e200rpatcher I used was one you had modified to show more information. Hereby what it says:

[INFO] Press Enter to continue:
[INFO] Searching for E200R
[INFO] Found E200R, uploading patching application.
[ERR] Error writing data length
[ERR] Bulk write error
[ERR] Upload of application failed.
[INFO] Press ENTER to exit:

I just rebooted my PC (Windows XP SP2) and re-run the e200rpatcher, reboot the e280R and it worked.

Now my e280R is with Rockbox working fine.

Hey I just got my e200R today and I followed the steps on the installation page, but the e200patcher listed there showed a failed message. So I go to these forums as directed, and the e200patcher in this thread actually worked. I think it might best to post that e200patcher link on the e200r page too. Thanks! This is my first time trying to install Rockbox. I'm going to write a little review of it at DAPreview.net

Thanks,

Coarch:
The patch post here worked for me.  Thanks!  I'm loving this.

I tried the new and improved patcher posted in this forum and also got further than before, getting the message:

Firmware unlocked
Proceed to step 2

( I was getting the "unable to continue" message before I tried the new version of the patcher program.)

BUT--when I reboot the Sansa I get back into Rhapsody, and I don't like nor want Rhapsody.

I do have an E250R, with Rhapsody
I do boot the Sansa in Manufacturer mode as reported by Windows
I do have the ./rockbox directory on the Sansa, but may have put it in the wrong place. Is it supposed to go on the first or the second partition of the Sansa?

Other than that. I don't know what else is needed or if I am doing something wrong. I did follow the "R" version of the directions at:

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200RInstallation

Hopefully someone here can help me get this installation finished. In the meantime I'll try to find my Sansa install disk and see what I can do without Rhapsody wusing Windows. (I prefer linux but have done the install in Windows since it has more support on the web.)

I finally got it to work using these directions:

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200RInstallationFromLinux

On this page there are links to the Windows installation also.

This is entirely manual, no automation at all so be careful in renaming the files and putting them were they are supposed to go!

I used copy and paste to rename the file and drag and drop in Ubuntu. I didn't have to mount the device as Ubuntu auto-mounts most attached hardware. It even opened a folder for the Sansa so I didn't have to open one myself.

Windows installation is very similar, since all you are doing is downloading, renaming, and copying files.
