Sansa database separation?

(1/1)

austin451:
Hey everyone,

Rockbox seems to be working pretty well, but there is something I'd like some help with.

I actually like to boot the SanDisk firmware (believe it or not) for music playback, but I would like to use Rockbox for different audio files--I have a bunch of language stuff that I listen to, and as far as I know, there isn't really a way to separate the language audio from music when playing in shuffle mode.

Is there a way that I can designate some files (i.e., in certain folders or however) to only be recognized and played in Rockbox, and others to play in the SanDisk firmware?

The only way I could figure out to do this was create two huge playlists--one with all music, and one with all language audio and play from the two playlists in the original firmware, but this really sucks when I want to find something specific or shuffle around quickly, as being in a playlist seems to make the player read the audio info pretty slowly.

I really appreciate any help with this.  Thanks!

Llorean:
If your files are organized in a well maintained directory structure, it really shouldn't be too difficult to play them separately.

Consider /Genre/Artist/Album/Track.mp3

austin451:
you're right, but the deal is I like to play all music random, but it inevitably ends up playing the language tracks, too.

is there any way to separate the folders so that certain ones only play in rockbox, not the Sansa firmware?

Llorean:
Rockbox only plays what you tell it to play... I don't understand your question. If you have a /music folder and a /language folder, just play the music folder.
