Brightness Settings

How can I change the brightness to my iPod?
Seems like you can only change the time the backlight runs.
I'd like the brightness to be like when it's plugged in via USB.
The backlight is the main killer of the battery. When I set it at 5 seconds, the battery would go down 20% in roughly 10-15 mins.

There is a patch on the tracker for the ipods (FS#5234) but, as I know it has some bugs.

The patch on the tracker will not make it into rockbox, it isn't done the right way.  amiconn is in the process of implementing proper hardware backlight controls for some iPods.

cant wait for this to be implemented. one bug the patch has is you have to set it to brightness setting 15 before you play doom i think.
