Getting a black screen with white text saying "image not found".
« on: November 07, 2007, 01:53:27 PM »
Yea so i turned on my ipod today in class and a back screen with white text came up saying:

Rockbox boot Loader
version 2.0
IPOD version:0+000c005
partition 1: 0+0b
Loading Rocbox....
Than says more info about my ipod
Loading rockbox.ipod:
Error!
Can't load rockbox, ipod:
Read failed (image)

I'm thinking, that i don't have the rockbox image? Help please? Thanks again.

You haven't followed the instructions properly.  Reread the installation instructions in the manual, specifically the bit about unzipping a build to your player.

Sorry, it was me that didn't read it properly.   :-[

I just saw

Quote
Loading rockbox.ipod:
Error!
Can't load rockbox, ipod:

and stopped reading, it is so common.  Woops.

Have you tried error checking your disk, and then re-extracting rockbox.zip?  It may have become corrupted some how.

Yep, just overwrite the existing installation.  That is how you update rockbox (which you ought to try and do before reporting any problems really).

Also, I'm going to assume you are on Windows - try running chkdsk on the drive when in disk mode.

Rockbox won't run on an NTFS formatted device. Did you reformat it recently for some reason?

Rockbox does _not_ have NTFS support. At no point could you have been using Rockbox while the drive was NTFS formatted. Before you reformatted it, it was probably FAT32.

no it was fat32 i know for a fact. It even says File system: FAT32 when i check in my computer. I said before that the "Volume Label is Local Disc", not removable disk. i don't how to run chkdsk on it.. I only hit start>run>chkdsk.
