iPod will not turn on [was: Need Help..]

(1/1)

nano92:
Ok, I have an ipod nano and just recently installed rockbox onto it. It was working fine for about 3 days. I have an ipod speaker/radio set and i went to plug it in there for it to charge. It would not turn off so i decided to turn it off by holding menu while it was attached to the speaker. It temporarily turned off so I thought, because I never had this problem without rockbox I should switch it back to the apple format, (I did this by holding menu then while the apple sign is shown switch hold on and it would go back) and as the screen showed the apple sign I switched hold on and then after about 3 seconds the ipod shut down. Hasn't worked since. If you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it, Thanks...

Chronon:
1) You're supposed to shut down by holding Play/Pause.  Holding Menu shouldn't initiate either shut down or a hard reset.

2) Your battery is probably dead.  Charge it for a while (say overnight) using a wall charger or by connecting it to a powered USB port.  Then reset it by turning Hold on and off and then holding Menu + Select until it boots.

Thanks I'll try it and then i'll re-post

Well, i've left it to charge for about 24 hours and then I did as you said, but nothing happened, if you have any other ideas please tell, thanks

Please use the Modify button rather than posting a new message if no one has replied.

How long did you hold the button combination for?  Sometimes it can take a minute or so.  Also, try putting the iPod on a table or other flat surface before trying the button combination.  Moving your fingers (even slightly) can interfere with this button combo registering properly.  This reset maneuver should always work, provided your iPod doesn't have some kind of hardware failure.
