mpeg player
« on: November 05, 2007, 04:04:03 PM »
I have an ipod 5.5g 30 gb. I've been trying to convert .flv files to mpeg2 but for some reason the audio keeps going much faster than it's supposed to. And then the video skips so much more also, I'm using mediacoder... if anyone has done successful converting please tell me how

Ok it seems to work all until it makes a mp4 file as the output. But I didn't even change anything? using media coder and I went to rockbox jukebox, selected ipod video 4:3 aspect, and it says it is on mpeg-2 but it gives me a mp4??!?!

Do you have your OS set to suppress filename extensions?  I know that when I use VLC to transcode the output file gets renamed to the same name as the input file, but with a .mpg extension attached to the end of it.  Maybe your input filename has a .mp4 extension that you usually don't see.  For example:  IF = sample.mp4, OF = sample.mp4.mpg.  If you tell the OS not to display extensions for known filetypes then you would see the following: IF = sample, OF = sample.mp4.  That's my best guess at the moment.

If you play the file using a media player what format does it report?

No I don't have my os supress the file extention. It is a mp4 because I opened it with mediacoder again and it said it had mpeg4 video. I think the problem is with files i had to extract to MediaCoder/extentions. Whenever I go to Rockbox Jukebox it loads but it says missing plugins at the top and cant find it when I try to download the missing plugin.

Ah, okay.  Well, I'm not familiar with that program, to be honest.  I just use VLC with a batch file.  The wiki claims that the mediacoder site is helpful if you run into problems.  Are you able to find any help there?

I figured it out without the rockbox extension, all you gotta do is change the sample rate to 44100 hz
