USB Charging Option on Gigabeat

I noticed under battery settings on the GigabeatF40, there is an option to "Charge During USB Connection".  Why is this an option, instead of always enabled?  In other words, why would anyone want to disable USB charging?

It's just there for customization's sake I think. Rockbox has tons of options that I don't ever change, this is one of them.

Since it charges in the background, I cant think of any reason anyone would want to customize it out, unless perhaps it is bad for the battery to leave it charging too long, or something along those lines, which I would want to know about.

saratoga:
I asked about this a while ago.  Apparently its for some players that have trouble running off unpowered USB ports without it.  I don't think it does anything on the gigabeat though.  Should probably be #defined out for most targets.
