Database not working (not initializing)
« on: November 05, 2007, 10:46:06 AM »
Hi Everybody,

I have a problem (it's not a big problem for me since I don't use the database very often) with initializing the database. I own a h120 and it's not possible to initialize the database anymore. Stays at the point where it says: "building database...0 found [Stop to return]" I have not had this problem previously, do you know what could be the problem?

Also I have another question: How difficult is it to replace the hard disk on my player. what's the largest hd I can put into an h120? where do I get the drives?

Thanks in advance

1)  Try deleting all the .tcd files in .rockbox and reinitialising.  If that doesn't help you may have a tag it is chocking on - try removing half the songs then retrying etc.

2)  It is very easy to change the drive.  Getting a drive is a little more difficult as they are discontinued.  In a h120 you need a single platter drive which limits you to 20, 30 or 40 gb (unless you also get a h140 back plate which allows dual-platter up to the ultra-rare 80 GB).  Be careful as most 40 gb drives you find of this sort will be double platter.  Have a look at mistic river for a nice drive swapping tutorial, and also http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/HardDriveReplacement#Iriver for the correct connector and thickness.  As for where to get them, ebay or occasionally they pop up in online shops - try www.span.co.uk
