iHP 115 External Mic Rec Problem

(1/2) > >>

Repairfreak:
I recently purchased a iHP-115 and I would like to use the O.E.M. Electret type external mic that came with my previously owned H-120.

When using the line in rec mode with my ihp-115 & H-120 stock microphone,  no audio is detected, even with REC gain all the way up.

I then verified that the Line In jack is actively switching on and working with a line level audio source.

Question: The original H100 firmware does not have a EXT Mic. setting like the H-120, just LINE IN, OPTICAL and INT.MIC

Does this mean the iHP-115 does not provide a operational voltage source for the microphones internal pre amp like my old

H-120? Maybe this is another one of the other differences between the iHP-115 & iHP-120 besides the iHP-115 sporting a 15GB drive and

the iHP-120 a 20GB ? Has anyone else been able to record without a pre-amped mic on the iHP-115 using LINE IN mode ?

As far as I know, the h100 series does not provide plug power, use a battery box or external pre-amp.

When you speak of h100 series you are specifically talking about the iHP-110 and iHP-115 models correct?

I know the iHP-120 provides plug power because it works with the microphone I'm now trying to use with my just purchased iHP-115.

The fact that it did not work with my iHP-115 and the fact that the firmware for this model does not have a EXT. MIC setting like the

H-120 made me question if it has the capability without a battery box or mic preamp being used.

petur:
yes: iHP-110 and iHP-115 do not have plug power. This is from memory which is known to be in a bad state, but I do think it is correct.

Just plug in a cable and measure....

If we're on the subject, I need to know as I'm buying a special mono mic to use on lectures, what is the max volt that's provided by the line in for the mic ?
I'm asking because on the specification of the mic it says :"2-10v DC supplied by external power from recorder (Plug-in-power)"
So I guess I need at least 2V
