3 problems with the firmware

(1/1)

peterle:
Hi,

1.) the f/w worked well. I kept upgrading and made an update from a ~2 weeks old version to the daily build. I had the problem that the new firmware doesnt worked with the themes. So i deleted everything on the .rockbox-folder (beside themes) and copied it new to the player.

The player still did not switched the themes. So I went back to the older build and it works again..

3.) The other thing is.... if i want to modify/copy mp3 folders and boot the player with the sandisk-firmware .. after that the folder "music" is hidden and i cannot access it with "data" because it is hidden. If I unhide the folder it works until I reboot the player again with the original-firmware and it updates the database... then it seems the original f/w attributes the folder again with (+h) hidden-tag ?

It was not like that before i tried the update-stuff.
I have fixed it while made a new folder called MUSIK and this will not be modified.

3.) If i have the powercable on my car connected to the player I cannot turn the player off by the poweroff-key. It is careless if the Car-Adapter-Mode is enabled or disabled... any idea??? I have also read the manual about the idle-timer.

4.) Is it possible that the player DIRECTLY turns off if the power from the car is cut off? Smalles value I have found is 1 min... but not so good, sometimes I listen to audiobooks.

Any suggestions?

What theme are you using.  I'm using the current build and my Themes work fine.  You need to make sure that your "theme" does not require a "special" build such as those made to support Album Art.  If you are using themes that require "special" builds, then you can no longer count on using the current or daily builds.  You will have to rely on the person who "created" the patched version to come out with a new build.  That is why quite frankly I only load Themes that will work with original .Rockbox loads

That is a function of the Sansa.  I did the same thing you did by making a "My Music" folder and use that one.

I have found the same issue when I use an external power supply with Rockbox running.  However, Judging from what I've read, the charging circuit when running Dropbox only draws 100mA vice the original firmware which draws 5 times that amount.  As a result, you may not be chargring using the cable anyway.

My suggestion would be run off the battery when running dropbox, then stop the player.  After you've finished travelling for the day, then connect to an external charger or USB port and boot into original firmware.  This will allow the battery to fully charge

This behavior may change in future builds, as there is a lot of work going on regarding USB and power management on the Sansa.  But until then, it might be your best bet.

That is what is supposed to happen, the player automatically "pauses" the playback and then waits for the idle timeout to expire and then shuts down the player.  If it is not working, then I suggest that your accessory outlet may still be supplying power even with the car turned off.  (I know my phone charger continues to operate even when the ignition is off).  If this is your case, you may need to either find a way to cut power to the Accessory outlet (cig lighter) when you turn off the car, or if that's not possible, simply unplug the power adapter from the cig lighter when you leave the car.
