Does RockBox work with this player? (fake ipod)
« on: October 30, 2007, 02:19:16 PM »
This is the player:

http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190168274832&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BID_Stores_IT&refitem=190168157415&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget

Maybe the support is in development but the reader doesn't have any brand, so I don't know what to write in the search form...  :(

Thanks

Daniele

Rockbox doesn't work on the 3rd gen nano. The 1st gen nano is the only supported nano at this time.

No one is working on a port to the 3rd gen nano at this time, either.

It isn't an apple ipod nano, it's a sort of fake, but for the price it's a good product...

I'm sorry, but it simply won't work. Rockbox needs to be specifically ported to a device. It doesn't just work by dropping it onto any DAP.

If you really, really want to use Rockbox, look for a supported iPod instead. Go for a video, photo/color, 4G greyscale, a mini, or a 1st gen nano.

Well if you don't know what its called or who made it, I don't think you're going to have much luck finding info about how easy it would be to port to.

With the hardware those knockoffs use? Forget it! I'd rather bust my brain figuring out the newer iPods than a knockoff that may even have inconsistent build quality.

Has anyone tried using any of these knockoff ipods?

i have seen them in a few stores, and they look nearly exactly the same as the new ipods, if somone wasnt paying attention they could easially mistake them.

Has anyone had experience with these players? are they any good?
