F20 Backlight connector screwed!
« on: October 29, 2007, 10:20:43 PM »
I found out that the tape-like connector which connects the backlight to get power has a small tiny cut in the wire. If I try to press it in a weird way it somehow connects again and works briefly. Does anyone have any idea how/if this thing can be fixed?

I think the prognosis for really fixing this is small.  If I understand correctly the flexible printed cable that attaches the LCD to the board has a tear in it.  You could either look for a new FPC to attach to the LCD.  I'm not sure how easy that is.  Otherwise you might be able to find a cheap LCD on eBay.  Bummer. . .

The part that plugs in is made of a harder substance, maybe silicon type stuff, and then it turns to the flexible tabe-like band with the wires. The problem is that at the joint between the hard/flexible material, the wires are disconnected due to bending. If i can find some sort of conductive glue or paste, then it would be an easy fix. I can't really think of anything else.

The conductive pen looks like it might do the trick! Good luck!
