Toshiba gigabeat F10 battery issues
« on: May 26, 2007, 07:47:11 PM »
I'm having some battery issues.I've had my gigabeat plugged into a charger for about 1 week, yet the battery is still half full/ orange battery sign.I'm not sure if it's something with the battery, but I'l leave it plugged into the charger for a full day, come back the next day and turn it on and itd still have the little battery sign saying half full or empty.. whats going on

now every time i turn it on, rockbox says battery empty RECHARGE shutting down. then it shuts down.
I've installed the original firmware and it turns on, but if I unplug the charger, the whole thing will turn off. I've opened it up and dettached and reattched the battery, but no luck, plus my parents won't get me a new mp3 player so I really need to figure out how to fix this problem

I'm thinking of just buying a new battery, but I can't seem to find one anywhere...also does anyone know how to attach the face plate? I'm currently using a rubberband to hold it on

It sounds like a dead battery to me.  Have you checked eBay?

To state the obvious (but you never know)... you do have the battery switch on the bottom set to "on", right?

apoligies for dragging up an old thread, but i didnt want to start a new one and thought this was an appropriate place to post. I have the same problem and was about to buy a new battery when i noticed that the component on my gigabeat labeled r87 had come partially unsoldered from the circuit board, can anyone confirm that this would cause such a problem. thanks for any replys in advance and thankyou for all the continued work on rockbox, you do a great job.

Well it's entirely plausible.  Why don't you replace the resistor and see if it fixes your problem?
