How to playback (Toshiba F40) using USB into car stereo?
(1/1)
tawmn:
Greetings,
I hope I have the correct forum. First off, just want to say that Rockbox is worlds better than the darn Toshiba default SW that came on my F40 player.
Here's my scenario and question: my Toshiba F40 plays great and life is good since I went Rockbox. Well my girlfriend just got a new car stereo that has a USB plug on it, so that an MP3 player can plug into it and play through the car stereo amp.
I tried this and, after about a 10 second pause (for synching with each other), it starts to play, however I have zero control regarding selecting options like previous, next, volume, etc. Â No buttons work and there is no menu displayed, only the background picture.
Question: is this known behavior? Is there support for this type of playback (hope so)? Is my answer posted somewhere in this vast knowledge forum and I chose the wrong search words? ???
thanks in advance!

What's happening is that your in-car player is treating the Gigabeat just like an external hard disk. The same thing would probably happen if you just plugged in a powered flash drive, or similar. You're going to need to consult either the manual for the in-car player, or its manufacturer.

Ah, that makes sense. Will look into it. Thanks for the response!
