ID3 tags on playlist
« on: October 28, 2007, 12:14:54 PM »
hi
i own a 5g ipod.  When i insert songs into a playlist songs are named after their filename (ex. FKRA or ml_pmp000). Is there a way to make it show it by its ID3 tags?

Assuming the tags are there, then you must pick a WPS file that displays them.

I don't know what WPS (You pick them, generally, by selecting "Browse Themes" from the "Settings" menu) you're using, but most of them will display ID3 tags.  If you don't know, then I'd assume your mp3 files don't actually have tags.  But, if you can tell us what Theme (or WPS) you're using, we can at least confirm that or rule it out.

I think the current behavior is still to display file names when viewing playlists.  There's a patch in the tracker for supporting EXTM3U playlists --> FS#7652.  This seems to provide a workaround to this situation, though it requires a user to convert M3U playlists to EXTM3U playlists in order to display the song title.
