mpegplayer is nuts
« on: October 27, 2007, 02:07:38 PM »
I converted every movie/video to mpeg2 (I use ipod video) and it works but every half a second it skips a little part of the video to keep up with the audio (I dont have a delay with the audio)
If anyone could help me that would be great.

thanks in advance

What bitrate is the video?

The iPod video has the slowest processor relative to screen size and any rockbox target and is therefore by far the worst performer in MPEGPlayer.  To be honest, whilst MPEGPlayer with recent speedups is pretty good on all other targets (and awesome on some), with the iPod Video you are probably better just using the OF.

Real words please.

And just to clarify, I only meant use the OF for video, rockbox for everything else.

yes I've noticed that.. that the original firmware is better.

I tried to, for example, (based on http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/pub/Main/PluginMpegplayer/presets.xml)
Code: [Select]
ffmpeg -i UNKNOWN\ -\ Swiss\ Airforce.mp4 -acodec mp3 -ab 128 -ar 44100 -vcodec mpeg2video -s 320x240 -b 400kb -strict -1 -ac 2 swiss-airforce.mpg

But the video is too jumpy. Oh I have a video ipod 30gb btw.

Since I am such an open source fan.. I decided to delete all files (including ipod_control). Would it be safe to plug my ipod back into itunes for it to re-create the files needed to add videos again? I'm using ubuntu, so happy to use other ipod managers. Sadly floola just tells me my ipod is not connected. :p
