For the love of god, can someone help me? H320 (US)
« on: October 26, 2007, 01:50:10 PM »
I thought I was tech savvy until i started doin this today.  I got the automated installer, and thats not working.  Tried manual, not working.  I tried to install the 1.29(k) not working.  I think i need to install the original firmware of korea right?  can anyone find me the link to that, the iriver site is all wacked out and I cant find it.  Im about to give up.  If anyone could help i will love you forever.  If someone who had a h320 us and got this working from scratch could let me know how you did so, that would be incredible. thanks

I got the automated installer, and thats not working.  Tried manual, not working.  I tried to install the 1.29(k) not working.
It would be interesting to know what exactly wasn't working.

Rasher has a mirror of most Iriver firmwares, check http://rasher.dk/rockbox/iriver-firmwares/ -- that is also listed on the wiki page the manual installation instructions in the manual points to.

Tried manual, not working.

I performed two installs on two seperate H320s using nothing but the instructions in the manual. Exactly what about the manual is "not working"?

hey, the first thing i tried to do was instal the 1.29 (k) hex file.  I dropped it into my root folder and then ran the firmware updater.  The version type has not changed.  It still says US 1.04.  Thinking that it still may have worked, i donwloaded the .rocbox zip file and unzipped it directly into the rot folder. I then downloaded the QT automated program and installed the utility to the player, which it said it did so sucessfully.  I then tried to install the boot driver and this is the point i am stuck at.  It gives me html error messages.  I am assuming this is because i have not yet updated to a non us version?  If that is so, could someone walk me through getting a non us version.  and if so the best one in your opinion.  thanks guys

i just tried again to install the 1.29 korean version.  I downloaded the hex, dropped it into my root, removed my previous us version update hex, and ran firmware upgrade, and nothing happened.  It wouldnt run the firmware updater, it simply does nothign

Then try 1.29 J, and please don't double post again.

ok listen im really sorry to double post again.  but i am trying to work through this as we speak.  I just got it to load, i got the rockbox splash and it loaded, but now i just have an ugly plain screen with small text on the left, its not a graphical display what so ever, purely text.  What did i screw up now?  Please dont be mad, im freakin out, need help

1) Please read the forum posting guidelines. They state exactly what to do INSTEAD of double posting. We don't have a rule that says "You're not allowed to talk again until someone responds" just one that says *how* to talk again, for a variety of reasons we felt it was necessary to define it.

2) The default screen of Rockbox isn't graphical. If you read the manual, you'll see screenshots of the menus, and this should look familiar to you.

Just read the manual and try a different theme -- I'd suggest iCatcher as a start. And Rockbox Utility gives you the option to install quite a bunch of nice themes ;)

I split off the iCatcher related posts after this and moved to the WPS forum.
