Hi all.

I installed the rockbox firmware some time ago on my Ipod 5.5G (30GB). It worked well and everything was fine. The problems started when I decided to remove rockbox. I erased the Rockbox directory and restarted the Ipod. Next time I tried to connect the Ipod to the computer (windows) it took the computer really large time to load the ipod and it refused to go into the ipod. Not with itunes nor on disk mode. I see the drive of the ipod but I can't access it. Itunes says i should restore the Ipod and whenever I try to restore it it gives me the 1418 error. I tried to format it with all sorts of sofwares, didn't work.

I did manage to restore the Ipod on other computer but it didn't solve the problem and it didn't erase the files from the Ipod, there are still 20G full on the Ipod.

I think that there is a large music file on the Ipod that Rockbox created when it was doing the liberary thing which makes all that mess.

I tried to access the Ipod on linux too, didn't work.

So, is there any way to get my Ipod back to life? I really can't find any solution. Is there any way to format the Ipod?

Please help.

Sorry if it's the wrong subforum but I didn't find anything more suitable.

The rockbox database doesn't create any music files, it is just a few relativly small files containing a list of metadata information (essentially).

ok....

so... how didn't the itunes erase these small files when i did manage to restore the ipod on another computer?

if it's not the files, what can cause the problem?

GodEater:
A damaged file system perhaps.

algalord:
ok... and is there a way for me to fix that?
