4GB SDHC Micro on a Sansa e200
« on: October 24, 2007, 04:20:24 AM »
Super quick question. I was thinking of buying one of these,

http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/3359487/Sandisk-Micro-SDHC-4GB-Card/Product.html

Does anyone know if this will work in the Rockboxed Sansa e200?

Steve :)

You will have to write to the card via an external reader/writer connected to your
pc first.  Then once you have the files loaded onto the card you can plug the card
into the Sansa, reboot rockbox, and then rockbox will be able to read the card just fine.

Until Rockbox gets it's own USB mode.

Thanks, guys.

I can't write to the card directory to the SD card...?

I tried it with a standard card and it showed up on my Ubuntu box as two drives... It worked okay here...? But maybe that's just the standard cards..?

Yep, that is using the OF usb mode, but as the OF doesn't support SDHC....

You could also copy stuff to the internal memory then use rockbox to copy it to the card.  Rockbox native USB mode is being worked on however, so just a little patience will see you through :)

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, gotcha... :)

I'll hang on for the UBS thingy bob thing instead then... Will be less hassle than buying a cable and stuff... Unless I upgrade my mobile phone and do that instead... Hmmmmmmmmmm :)

On another note,

Does anyone know what the upper limit on the SD cards is for the Sansa?

I've noticed that Amazon UK are selling a 6GB SDHC card for £32,

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Retail-Packaged-Sandisk-MicroSDHC-Adaptor/dp/B000WXQGV2/ref=pd_sbs_ce_shvl_title_3/202-8272085-2882220?ie=UTF8&qid=1193297486&sr=8-5

wondering if that would work as well..? Or are we currently capped at 4GB?

we should be ok up to the sdhc max
which is 32GB as per Sandisks specification. Not that cards of that size are available already ...

Hey, all!

I got my card just a while ago, copied some songs on, tried it out and it all works fine.

It's a 6GB SDHC Sandisk card (got it from Amazon, as above).

Cheers to the guys that did all the hard work on the SD card reading...

I'm now the proud owner of a 14GB Sansa e280!!

Wahoo!! :)
