fwpatcher = ¨no suitable application¨
« on: October 23, 2007, 12:57:53 PM »
I´m not sure what this mans, but when I try to run the patcher, I get this message in an error box.

Cannot open /home/zen/Desktop/fwpatcher.exe: No application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling this kind of file.

Any ideas? I´m not very good at linux yet, most of this stuff looses me quickly....

Hi,

if you are on linux, you cant run exe file, they are for windows :-)

please try rbutil, the Rockbox Utility to patch the firmware, you can find it in the wiki. For this Utility there are binarys for windows, Linux and Mac aviable.

One more quick question, and Iĺl move my arse to the other forums.

Do I need to keep the hex file and the ¨record¨ directory that is still on my player (ie, does the flashed installation use either of them)?

No and no, although if you boot the iriver firmware it will recreate RECORD for you.
