iriver h320: early battery failure,1st gen ipod battery

(1/1)

glenmo:
iriver h320 with an ipod 1st gen 2200mah battery

this was happening before rockbox was installed yesterday, but as soon as i saw that rockbox had a battery benchmark plugin, i decided to use it and see if i could learn something.  my battery dies VERY early... it gives me about 6 hrs of a charge and dies... seemingly regardless of whether or not i use the device.

here's the battery_bench.txt output:

that's the whole thing!

this is the third battery i've tried on this thing, the other two were made for the iriver h320 and they acted the same way.  what on earth could be happening?

AquaStreak:
I heard that in order for iRivers to use iPod batterys, you have to switch the polarity or something like that in the connector.

Perhaps this is the case. I do not know what it means. Sorry.

dreamlayers:
If the polarity was wrong the device would not work and it would probably get damaged.

I'm surprised by those voltage readings.  4.108V is an almost full battery.  The device shouldn't shut down at that point.   I wonder if the battery has an excessively high internal resistance and a shutdown happens when the HD tries to spin up.

bonusbartus:
Got about the same problem with my h340,
for some time now, I already rma's my player half a year ago, but still isn't working great.. I first thought it was because of a new rockbox build (which can still be partly the problem as far as I know) but as of today I just can't play music in rockbox, it just keeps stuttering and the hdd keeps spinning, so I guess that the hdd is damaged and sucks up al the power of the battery, I'll RMA my player today and see what Iriver.de says about my player.
I hope they replace both the battery and the hdd:)
