e260 gets frozen sometimes with rockbox
« on: October 19, 2007, 08:57:13 PM »
hello.

(I'm not sure if it's the right forum to post the message, if it isn't, please refer me to the correct one)

I bought my sister a brand new sansa e260. now, I have a cowon with rockbox and I like it alot so I installed rockbox on the sansa as well. the instalation and all went well and the rockbox was working well, but after a few hours of playing with it and checking all it stuck when she tried to play a song. the buttons only made it lit and did nothing, i couldn't even turn it off. So I opened it and unplugged the battery for a second.so it worked well after that but when I treid to play a video it showed an error messege: "missing packet start code prefix: 00at 1214" and stuck again. when it sutck the first time it didn't give any error message and my sister don't remember what song it was (or what type). Hope you know what the problam seems to be.

oh and another thing, when installing the guide said something about e200r having other instalation, what is it and how do I know if I have e200r?!

and a question, in your guide it says "Turn on your Sansa and press |<< to boot into the original firmware". I know what dualboot is and I would like to have it, I just didn't understand what I need to press in order to get to the original FW? and if I need to do something for dual boot, would love to know :)

thank you guys alot...

Hold the power button for about 15 seconds.

How was the video converted? How current is the build used?

You successfully installed Rockbox, that means you don't have an e200r. It will say so on the back of the device if you have a "r" series.

You need to hold the << (left, rew) button when powering on.

No, I haven't had a freeze since the early days of the e200 port. You might want to do a fresh installation (remove the ".rockbox" directory first) with a current build to see if it helps. You might also want to run scandisk/ckdsk on it to eliminate file system errors.
