sensa e280 and indows 98
boby:
Hello !
My little sister is eyes disable and I offered her a sansa e280 to "read" audio books thanks to it. I setup rockbox on it without any problem (I have windows XP) She uses at home windows 98 and I didn't check, before buying the sansa, that it was recognized by this version of windows.
When I plug the sensa on her computer, it asks me to set up the drivers. Do you know how to do ? Which file shall I set up on er omputer ? I didn't find any INF file on the sansa CD that I got with the sansa or on their web side...
Thanks a ot
Boby

I believe Windows98 doesn't have USB 2.0 support, which the Sansa may require. This is something you should contact Sandisk about for support, as all USB is currently handled in their software.
boby:
Indeed, her computer has only a usb 1 port.
But this doesn't seem to be the problem : my friend has also a computer with usb 1 (and no usb 2) with XP and the sansa is recognized without any problem.
I called sandisk for help but the girl I had on the phone talled me she had no answer for this problem ! That's why I was hoping someone on the rockbox forum could have a "magic solution" !...

AlexP:
Windows 98 does not include the drivers that XP does so you can just plug and play. Unless Sansa will supply you with drivers for Windows 98, you are stuck.
bluebrother:
you "only" need a UMS driver for win98 (of course you need to switch the Sansa to UMS mode too, note that it's called "MSC" in the sansa OF). Just check this page: http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php (btw, I found this by simply checking the wikipedia article about UMS)
