iRiver: "Completed" screen comes on when PC off

no 3 on your list is caused by the original firmware settings being erased. check the backlight settings on the original firmware.

That seems to be it I think. I had forgotten that this wasn't the default setting and that my iriver firmware settings would be reset when rockbox was installed.
