iRiver: "Completed" screen comes on when PC off

(1/4) > >>

bind00:
iRiver H320 with yesterday's build and previous builds.

With the player in the cradle charging from USB, when the PC is turned off the screen comes on with "Completed". This runs the battery down quickly if you don't notice it.

bind00:
I think this is a behaviour that should be changed so I'll try once more in case I wasn't clear the first time.

While the H320 is in the cradle and the PC is switched on the player charges from USB.
After some time the player is fully charged.
If the player is left in the cradle when the PC is switched off it displays a "Completed" message permanently on screen.
Displaying this message uses up the battery if you don't either switch off or disconnect the player.

I hope this can be modified.
Thanks

Please don't double post.

Is this in rockbox?

bind00:
It's more of a bump than a double-post.
Yes it's Rockbox.

PaulJam:
Hi,

the Charging- and Completed-screen are part of the iriver firmware. I don't think there is much that rockbox can do about it.

You could try what happens if you use rockbox for charing via usb. Start rockbox and turn on Settings=>GeneralSettings=>System=>Battery=>"Charge during USB Connection" then press the RECORD button while inserting the USB cable. The player should then charge from USB without establishing a connection to the PC (the recording screen will come up but you can just leave it by pressing STOP)
I would expect, that when you turn off your computer, rockbox shuts down after the idle timeout (default 10 minutes).
