Need advice on opening up an unresponsive H10
« on: October 17, 2007, 06:01:15 PM »
My darling son got hold of my H10 last night and stuck the top of it in his mouth, resulting in an unknown amount of drool entering via the remote connector and possibly the headphone jack >:(.  This morning I found some corrosion around the pins of the remote connector, and the keys are no longer functioning :'(.

I haven't opened the device to check the extent of damage as yet.  Does anyone have any advice about opening the device for cleaning, etc?  Is there anything I need to be aware of before I pull it apart tonight? ???

There is what (at a cursory glance) looks like a pretty comprehensive guide on mistic river:

That's for the 20GB version. For the 5/6Gb it's pretty easy. Unscrew the 4 screws behind the battery, and the 2 on the top. Then you'll see 2 plastic tabs on the top, 1 beside the heapdphone jack, the other beside the microphone. Pry those up slightly while pulling the front part of the case off. Once it's apart at the top, just keep separating the 2 halves.

Indeed so, but as he didn't say which version he has....

Anyway, he has both now.
