Ipod 5G mp3 playback... or lack thereof

Alright, I put rockbox on my 5G 30GB ipod video, it installed fine, and the databse is working, but when I go to play a song, it does practically nothing. It DOES switch over to the "now playing" type of screen, but there is no sound (yes I checked the volume) and the song timer doesn't move forward at all. Could anybody help?

This issue seems to have been touched on back in March, there was no reply however. I dug this old pod (5g 30gb 512 sector hdd) out of a dusty box and noticed that under the apple software the mp3's wouldnt play back, everything else worked fine its just when you went to play the file, the now playing screen would pop up it just wouldnt start playing the song.

So I put rockbox on it wondering if I would have any luck - so far I haven't. Anyone out there got a solution that doesn't involve throwing this ipod a trash can?

What exactly happens when you try to play a file? Do you see the progress bar moving at all?

I want to narrow down the problem, so let me know what you're seeing, exactly.
