5.5 gen 30 gig video freezes after first four lines of boot
« on: October 17, 2007, 10:03:04 AM »
today my ipod took an unusually long time to shut down. after that, the furthest i can get it to boot is the first four lines...

Rockbox boot loader
Version: 20r12194-070204
IPOD version: 0xFFFFFFFF
TOSHIBA MK3008GAL

it'll just hang there and run its battery out. if i plug it in to my computer, it will notify me of a critically low battery and then charge till it reboots itself, then doing the exact same thing (hanging on the fourth line of the boot output).

i cant even boot the classic firmware, so my little black joy bringer is kinda [profanity deleted] right now. =\

i found a thread where another person had this same problem, but it was from december of last year... and no one replied. i hope someone has something to say this time around.

if by that you mean a functional usb hard disk, then no. =\ it hangs at that point during boot and never even gets detected by my operating system.

and if thats not what you meant, then im not sure i know how to. ;)

He means disk mode, which is described in the installation chapter of the manual.

is there something i did to cause this, or can it be prevented?

i upgraded the bootloader too... 0.8 to 2.0... quite a change since i first got this ipod.
