I have a IPOD lookalike with a ATJ2091N chipset, sold as a 8GB player but after formatting only 1GB.
The player was dead but after following a tutorial on http://www.mympxplayer.org/ managed to let it be recognised by the pc as a removable 1GB disk and a MP3 player.  Only thing i'm missing is the correct firmware.  The screen lights only blue/black/white.
Is it possible to put open source software on the player ?

I don't about other open source firmwares, but you  definitly can't install rockbox on your player.

At least, not without reading the NewPorts wiki page and doing a significant amount of work to port it.
