Something weird happens with alot of my wps's

For some reason alot of the wps i download show just show the name and artist of the song and 2 lines which move around. I have tried the Senab, Evil G and, the regular build yet some of them still dont work. So my questions are 1. Which built is best for themes compalibility. 2. Why the WPS's are like that.

Those wps contain errors. With the new parser that was introduced a while ago those now get rejected and the default wps is used instead. You need to fix the wps or use a theme that doesn't contain errors.

I'd suggest using Rockbox Utility for installation -- it not only installs Rockbox but also themes, and all themes it installs should work with a current build. Builds like Senab and EvilG are unsupported builds and therefore not supported here.

okay so you are saying the reason they are not working is because the wps has an error so no matter what i use it wont work and also you are saying i should use the regular rockbox build (current built)?

1) we don't support any other than the official build here so I won't recommend any other build.
2) if the wps contains errors it gets rejected. You have either the option of fixing those errors or using a different wps.
3) a wps requiring a modified build contains errors in terms of the official build (as it contains additional tags) so it will get rejected too.

I thought I'd answer this question from a noob point of view (meaning some people on here are too smart and think everyone else here to be just as smart... therefore they they either talk over your head, avoid giving you a straight answer, or possibly don't realize we don't get it. Any way they do it their answers go over the noobs head).

So to answer your question. The "current build" rockbox offered here is a stable build, but it's kinda like your fathers car, it can be boring. Some people take that stable build and add unsupported
patches to it to allow it to show album art or scrolling text or many other bells and whistles. If the theme you download needs any of these bells and whistles (it will tell you what you need in the description) and you aren't using a build that has that/those patches then you will end up with the default screen. What you'll need is a custom build, read the description of the theme you're downloading to get an idea of what that build will need to run that theme.
