Just didn't work for me on iPod 4G grayscale

(1/1)

punchcutter:
I recently installed RB on my 4th gen iPod, and was excited to see what it offered, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I have had to remove the bootloader and go back to Apple's firmware.

My symptoms were roughly as follows:

* Everything got very slow and unresponsive
* I could reboot but (seemingly) not shut the machine down, even when running original Apple firmware
Now I'm having a hard time remembering what else there might have been  :-[  But the most serious trouble was that the thing seemed frozen often because response to buttons was so slow. Does this sound like something familiar, and is there an easy way to fix it?  Should I try to carefully reproduce symptoms and put in bug reports?

Thanks,
Dave

I run RB on my 4th gen iPod, and the buttons are very responsive.  Everything works as advertised for me.

punchcutter:
Thanks for the response... that's  encouraging.  I'll have to try  again.  And pay closer attention to all the relevant parameters....

did you change any settings? for me when I change enable some of the sound settings, my 5.5g ipod becomes slow. and you can put the ipod into deep sleep by pressing play for a few seconds longer than usual...

punchcutter:
You know what... I did mess with something... I wanted to see what would happen if I changed the display language to Japanese.  Normally I can read Japanese but it turned out I didn't have the fonts installed or something, so I got a lot of funny boxes  :)  I got a little bit turned around in the menu system, but luckily it didn't take long to find my way back to English.

But now that you mention it, it might very well have been right after doing that that the slowness started, because everything was fine at the very beginning... now I have something I can actually test.

Thanks,
Dave
