Image Viewer - no PNG support?

I apologize if this is a stupid/obvious/noob/'should have rtfm' question, but is there any reason that I can't view PNG images on my 5G ipod with rockbox?  Jpgs are fine, but pngs are not shown as supported.

I did look at the FAQ/manual and google, and I couldn't find anything.

Anyone know if it's possible to view pngs on a 5g ipod video with rockbox?  It would be very handy.

Nobody who wants it has ported a PNG decoder to the image viewer, which is currently only a jpeg viewer.

Thanks for the info.  I guess I'll just convert these images to jpg format then.

The hint was of course that you could try to add a png viewer if you think it's useful :)
