Which is stupid, because the chips are already double stacked.

Yes, that is what I am planning on trying.

saratoga... thanks for compiling my post! ;).. sorry bout that.

scorche, right now i'm waiting for the donor thumb drive.. which right now i'm still hunting for the biggest memory on my local shop, all i can now is an 8gb thumb drive.

killer:
success project!.. unfortunately i was only able to use 2pcs of 2GB Hynix chips from a donor Ridata Thumbdrive on 2GB 1st gen iPod Nano's logic board from 2GB now i have 4GB of memory on my Guinnea Pig iPod Nano!.. if someone would be generous enough to send me a donor 32GB thumbdrive i'll be glad to redo the procedure!.. i'll post some pic soon!.

here's the pic of the donor thumbdrive..

Spoonman:
any news about this project? i would really like to upgrade ny 4 gig nano to 32 gig or something like this, but i am not sure if the hardware will be compatible with this. is the mmu on the memmory chip? if so it should be no problem doing this...

dreamlayers:
On the Nano, the PortalPlayer chip talks to the flash via ATA/IDE.
