Video problems

Ok sorry if this does not go here I am new to the forum. But anyway I have had rockbox on my Sansa e200 for about a month now and I have yet to figure out how to get video to work on it. I am not sure what format the video has to be in. Also whenever I try to play video the screen goes black as though it is about to start playing the video and then it goes back to the menu. Can someone please give me detailed instruction as to what I need to do in order for it to play video.
Thanks

Read the manual and search the web site / forums. You'll most likely be really interested in the PluginMpegplayer wiki page. And by the way, the forum guidelines require you to search first ...

Can you be more specific? If you can't at least describe what doesn't make sense then it makes it difficult for anyone to address that.
You say that you aren't sure what format the video has to be in, yet this is one of the first pieces of information on the wiki page. Re-read the entire "
How to encode files
" section too. If you have specific questions then we can try to help. But I don't know that I can give a much better general overview of the situation than is provided by that wiki page.

Ok I followed all of the instruction on the wiki page. I used Media coder and then when it gets to the bottom of the instructions it says to be continued with mpeg2enc. May be a noob question but I dont know what this is. So can someone explain what it is and where I can get it.

Ok after fooling around all day with video converters and having no success I am quite dissapointed with myself. I have been trying to succesfully get videos to play usings rockbox. Yes I have read the wiki and downloaded everything I possibly can. Can someone please help me out here. When I try to play the video I select the video and then the screen goes black for about a second. Then after that it returns to the video select menu. I really have no idea what I have done wrong but I would really appreciate some help. I have a sansa e200. Thank you

You only need to follow steps 1-5. Step 6 and below is for advanced usage. The "to be completed" is referring to the Wiki not yet having the rest of the advanced usage written.

Does the video play properly on your computer? What program and settings did you use to transcode?
D'oh.. I never read the names. Why did you start another topic? This will probably just be locked.
