I tried to use mediacoder, but when i do, Media Player doesnt recognize the video portion of the file and rockbox doesnt even see the file.
I tried mencoder but I have no idea how to type it into the command prompt. Can someone give me a set of specific steps or something.

LambdaCalculus:
There are some instructions on the PluginMpegplayer page. I would suggest WinFF or VLC to convert files.

Remember that MPEG-2 is supported and recommended.

grandpa2390:
ok ill try one of those and post what happens

what do i change in this command for my ipod photo. For a model for future use the file i want to convert is "Will It Blend_ - The Movie"(.mov filetype)  and i want it to be "Will it Blend - The Movie" (the mpeg player compatible filetype)
vlc --sout=#transcode{vcodec=mp2v,vb=600,width=,height=,acodec=mp3,ab=128,samplerate=44100,audio-sync}:std{access=file,mux=ps,url=.mpg}

Stop bumping the threads with double or triple posts. Please read the forum guidelines about this.

I'll just attach a tweaked batch file that you can use.

And never mind the name of the file. The iriver H300 series uses the same resolution as the iPod color and the Sansa e200 series, so it'll still work.

Change the extention from .txt to .bat, and you can drag and drop a video onto the batch file in Explorer to transcode it.
