ipod 4g freezes with new build (was: new user needs help please)

hi all, i am new to rockbox so please bear with me if my question is lame :)
I have had rockbox running on my old 4g ipod mini for a while now and thought i would update to the latest build which i have done before with no probs but this time the pod freezes and just states rockbox loaded and goes no further. i can reset it ok and it then reverts to the original operating system.
anyone help me out here please?

Try updating your bootloader.

thank you for your reply, updated boot loader and now it works with the exception of the usb connection. When connecting to a pc the usb symbol appears on the ipod screen and then freezes so the unit has to be rebooted.
I fixed this by installing an earlier build and all is now working fine.

I myself have to power up my iPod before connecting it to the computer or it will freeze up.  I never was annoyed with that enough to install a clean build to check so it may be patch related.
